How It Started

The clients reached out with a clear goal in mind: replace the old RV pad on their property with something more permanent—a small, well-designed cabin that could serve as both an accessory office space and a cozy place for guests to stay on weekends.

They visited us for a site walkthrough, and we quickly got aligned on the vision. The cabin would need to blend in with their existing home, offer comfort in all seasons, and provide a warm, welcoming vibe without being oversized. Together, we selected finishes and created a solid plan to bring it to life.

The Build

This compact 11.5’ x 20’ Modern Cabin was designed for four-season use and maximum flexibility. The layout includes:

A cozy loft sleeping area

Full bathroom with shower and toilet

Compact kitchenette with sink and cabinet storage

Open-concept living area for natural light and comfort

The interior is finished with our signature pine tongue-and-groove, while the exterior features a slate blue metal siding—chosen to match the client’s existing home—paired with black trim and a cedar accent wall for warmth and contrast.

An existing patio on-site was temporarily moved out of the way to allow for crane access, and then repositioned in front of the cabin after installation, creating a seamless finished space.

The Installation

Pre-Install Concerns:

Access was our main consideration on this one. The driveway was tight, with limited clearance for a semi, and there was a bit of fresh snow lingering on the local roads. On top of that, the route to Edgewater included Rogers Pass, which meant we had to meet strict height limits for the transport due to several tunnels along the way. Every inch mattered, so we ran detailed height calculations before the cabin was ever loaded.

The Plan:

The original plan was to load the cabin the day before, make the drive out, arrive that night to scout the site, and come back early the next morning for the lift. We were hoping that with chains on the semi, we’d be able to get up the driveway directly. The access looked tight, but manageable—and the idea was to make a clean push up the drive without needing any workaround.

The Day Of:

Things didn’t go quite as planned. Even with chains on, there was just no way we were getting up the driveway as-is. The turn at the bottom was tighter than expected, and the trailer was swinging in too close to a large tree. The cabin itself was dangerously close to making contact, and every attempt to correct the angle just brought us closer to a bind.

After a few test runs and a whole lot of watching from every angle, we realized there was no chance we’d make the turn the way we’d hoped. That’s when the team started looking at alternatives. On the far side of the driveway, there was a slight ditch and a raised bank—just wide enough to maybe sneak the truck through and around the problem area.

It was a gamble. We were worried the ditch might stop us cold. But Curtis from Vesper, who’s delivered a ton of our units, pulled off some truly next-level driving. He guided the rig up through the ditch and along the bank, slowly working the semi around the tree and up onto the main stretch of driveway. It took a few careful attempts and some serious coordination, but once he was committed, he threaded the needle and got the trailer through clean.

It was one of those classic install moments—tight, technical, and really satisfying when it worked out.

With the semi up top and the crane crew already on site, the rest of the install went quickly. The team lifted the existing patio and set it aside, then craned the cabin into place on the prepared pad. Once it was set and leveled, we returned the patio to its original spot in front of the new unit. The whole process was wrapped and cleaned up by 11:30 AM—well ahead of schedule, and a huge success given the tight access.

Site Prep & Timing:

The foundation had been carefully prepared in advance, and the staging area allowed just enough room to get the crane and delivery truck into position. Despite being a winter install, we got lucky with weather. Roads were dry all the way from our yard to site, with just a bit of snow left on the side roads near the property. With a tight timeline and tricky access, everything came together exactly how it needed to.

Another Successful Delivery!

This install replaced an aging RV with a clean, compact cabin that fits the site perfectly. With color-matched siding and a smart layout, the new unit feels like it’s always been there—adding both style and functionality to the property.

A smooth winter delivery, a beautiful setting, and another happy client in the books.
