Rock Creek – Peak Sauna Upgrade for Mountain Top Retreat Property

This 8’ x 12’ Peak Sauna was delivered to a remote rental and event property in Rock Creek, BC—replacing an old barrel sauna that just wasn’t holding up to mountain winters or guest use. With a larger footprint, a high-performance stove, and a far more durable build, this sauna is designed to deliver a better experience for years to come.

How It Started

The clients originally had a barrel sauna on their retreat and short-term rental property, but after one full rebuild—including sanding, staining, and resealing—it still wasn’t holding up. A year later, the wood was deteriorating again, and the small interior (just enough room for four people) just wasn’t cutting it for the kind of experience they wanted to offer their guests.

They were looking for something more durable—something that could handle the mountain weather, elevation, and frequent guest use.

After talking through their needs, we had just the right fit already in the yard: an 8’ x 12’ Peak Sauna ready to go.

The Build

This 8’ x 12’ Peak Sauna was built with guest comfort and durability in mind—ideal for short-term rental and retreat settings where the sauna sees regular use. The interior is fully finished in classic cedar tongue-and-groove, giving it that rich, clean look and timeless sauna feel.

Instead of a traditional upper bench on one wall and a lower bench on the other, this sauna features parallel benches—a layout we love for its social feel. Guests can sit across from each other, making it perfect for small groups, quiet conversation, or even solo stretches with plenty of room to recline.

The stove is a Huum Hive 13 wood-fired model, tucked neatly between the benches with a custom layout that balances heat output and clearances. Above, we included a false ceiling to conceal lighting and simplify ventilation while keeping the interior cozy and proportionate.

Altogether, it’s a spacious, durable, and user-friendly setup that looks great and performs even better—especially at elevation.

The Installation

This was one of the easiest installs we’ve done.

The property is remote—about 13.5 km up a gravel and dirt road, with a steep 600m elevation gain. We weren’t totally sure what the road conditions would be like, so we came prepared with gear just in case. But when we arrived, the route was clear and well-maintained.

Access to the site was simple. The client had prepped everything in advance, including the sauna pad, and we were able to back the trailer directly onto it. From there, we just tilted the unit off with our tilt-deck trailer—quick, smooth, and perfectly aligned.

Site Prep & Timing

The client was creating a full spa area around the sauna and had everything staged for install. After delivery, they added a patio and cold plunge tubs, set up an outdoor shower, and installed lighting posts to tie the space together.

It’s a great example of how a sauna can be part of a larger setup—adding value not just on its own, but as the centerpiece of a wellness experience.

Another Successful Delivery!

This project upgraded both size and durability for a mountain retreat space—giving the client a reliable, long-lasting sauna that’s better built for their climate and their guests.

It’s always fun to revisit a property later and see how a single delivery turns into something bigger.
